How it works for students

sign up

1. Sign up, watch recorded lessons and get ready

  • Create an account (registration is free).
  • An account is all you need to start watching the full-length tutorials or recorded lessons. For more details on this, see the How to watch recorded lessons page.
  • Download iolma Videocall from the Start videocall page, where you'll also find a complete guide on how to use it.

    2. Find the right teacher or school

  • Find the perfect match for your needs by browsing the TEACHERS page, where you'll find the schools list, as well as all the teachers listed by instrument and lessons level.
  • Further details on each teacher are available in their profile page. And you can even watch their recorded lessons and tutorials.
  • For peace of mind, we verify the credentials of each teacher and of each school.

    3. Book lessons

  • Clicking "Book a lesson" on a teacher's profile will display their availability calendar. Select one of the available timeslots and book a lesson. Subject to availability, you can book any duration from 45 min to 2 hours and any level for your lesson. It's that simple!
  • When booking you will be requested to pay the lesson fee. All payments take place directly between the students and the teachers, and are carried out by PayPal, so complete security is ensured.

    4. Have lessons

  • Our internal messages and e-mail reminders system keeps you in contact with the teacher, so that you can discuss all the lesson details.
  • 24 hours and again 6 hours before the lesson start time you will receive e-mail reminders, and all you have to do for the lesson to begin is to be online and logged on to iolma Videocall at the the lesson start time. Enjoy your lesson!
  • Sometimes, we'd like to offer other students the chance to watch your lesson, but at the same time we're 100% committed to respecting everyone's privacy. So, ONLY IF YOU AGREE, the teacher may record some lessons and might publish them onto the website. Refusing to allow a lesson to be recorded and published will have no impact on the lesson itself. For more details see the How to have live lessons page.
  • To protect your interests, we have designed automatic mechanisms to determine, in the case where a lesson doesn't take place, why it happened - for example, if the teacher didn't show up or if there were technical difficulties at fault, you will be reimbursed the full lesson fee.
